Effective date: 27 July 2026 · Last reviewed: 27 July 2026
These terms govern your use of Pilot Journey and the Pilot Journey Bridge (the "Software"). By activating, installing or using the Software you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
The Software is licensed by Beren Software, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) owned byYouri Berentsen, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 89646118 and established in Amsterdam, the Netherlands ("we", "us"). You can reach us atsupport@pilotjourney.app.
1. Your licence
When you buy Pilot Journey you receive a licence to use it. We keep ownership of the Software itself.
Your licence is:
- perpetual, with no subscription and no expiry date;
- personal, for your own use;
- valid for one computer at a time, which you can change (see section 3).
You may also install the Pilot Journey Bridge on the Windows PC that runs your flight simulator, in addition to the computer running the main application. No extra licence is needed for it.
The licence covers all updates we release for the version you bought. It does not cover a separate product we may sell in future.
2. What you may do
- Install the Software and make a backup copy for your own use.
- Record, stream and publish video of your own sessions, including monetised video. You do not need our permission.
3. Moving to another computer
Your licence key activates one computer. To move it, useSettings → Account → Deactivate this device and then activate the key on the new machine. There is no limit on how often you can do this.
Your career data lives on each computer separately and is never deleted by deactivating. If a computer is lost, broken or wiped before you could deactivate it, write to us and we will free the slot.
4. What you may not do
- Sell, rent, lend, share or give away your licence key, or use it on more computers than section 1 allows.
- Distribute or resell the Software or any part of it, including the data files it ships with.
- Work around or disable the licence check.
- Remove or change our notices, trade marks or attributions.
- Use the Software unlawfully.
You may not reverse engineer or decompile the Software, except where Articles 5 and 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC allow it, in particular to study how it works or to make it work with other software. Nothing here limits rights the law gives you.
5. Activation and internet
The Software checks your licence when you activate it and re-checks it roughly every three days. If it cannot reach the internet, it keeps working for 30 days before asking you to go online.
Flying does not need an internet connection. Only activation, the periodic re-check, updates and the optional services in section 7 do.
6. Updates
We may release updates that fix problems, add features or change existing ones. The Software downloads and installs them automatically; you can check manually under Settings → Account.
We will not remove a feature from a version you already own without offering a reasonable way to keep using it, unless we have to for legal or security reasons or because a third-party service has shut down.
Support is by email. We do not promise a response time.
7. Other people's software and services
The Software includes open source components. Their licences and notices are listed in full underSettings → About → Open source. Where one of those licences gives you rights that conflict with these terms, that licence wins for the component it covers.
Airport and runway data comes from OurAirports contributors, who placed it in the public domain.
The Software can connect to two services we do not run:
- SimBrief (Navigraph AB), for flight plans, and only if you enter a SimBrief Pilot ID.
- aviationweather.gov (US National Weather Service), for weather.
They have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or accuracy.
8. The simulator is not included
Pilot Journey needs Microsoft Flight Simulator, which you buy separately from Microsoft. We cannot promise that future simulator updates will keep working with the Software, but we will make reasonable efforts to keep up.
Microsoft Flight Simulator, Xbox and Windows are trade marks of the Microsoft group of companies. PlayStation and PS5 are registered trade marks or trade marks of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. SimBrief and Navigraph are trade marks of Navigraph AB. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. Airline names, liveries and aircraft designations belong to their owners and are used for identification only.
9. Your career data
Everything the Software records about your flying is stored on your own computer. It belongs to you, we never receive it, and we claim no rights in it. Our Privacy Policy at pilotjourney.app/legal/privacy explains this in full and forms part of these terms.
10. Buying, and getting your money back
Licences are sold through Paddle, which acts as merchant of record. That means Paddle is the seller for the payment itself and handles VAT. Their terms apply to the purchase; these terms apply to your use of the Software. The licence key itself is issued by us and emailed as soon as the payment clears.
Right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. Because the Software is digital content delivered immediately, you are asked at checkout to agree to immediate delivery and to confirm that you thereby lose that right (Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; Article 6:230p(g) of the Dutch Civil Code). If you do not give that confirmation, your 14-day right remains.
Our refund policy. Either way, we will refund your purchase if you ask within 14 days of the order and the licence is deactivated. Email support@pilotjourney.app with your order number. We may refuse where the key has been shared, where section 4 has been breached, or where the request is clearly abusive.
11. If something is wrong with the Software
You have the rights the law gives you as a consumer, including the right to software that does what it is supposed to do (Directive (EU) 2019/770; Articles 7:50aa and following of the Dutch Civil Code). Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Beyond that we give no further warranty. We do not promise that the Software will be free of every defect or that it will suit a purpose we have not described.
12. Liability
We are fully liable for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, and in any other case where the law does not allow liability to be limited.
Otherwise our total liability is limited to what you paid for the Software, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost time, lost career progress or lost data.
The Software keeps automatic backups, but they sit on the same disk as the original. Keeping an independent backup is your responsibility.
13. Ending the licence
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the Software.
We may end your licence if you seriously breach section 4 and do not put it right within 14 days of us asking. If we do, you must stop using the Software. Your career data stays on your computer either way.
14. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for future versions of the Software. The new version will be published at pilotjourney.app/legal/eula with a new version number and date, and the Software will point you to it.
Changes do not apply retroactively to a purchase you already made, unless they are in your favour or the law requires them. If you do not accept a change, you may keep using the version you have under the terms you accepted.
15. Law and disputes
Dutch law applies and disputes go to the Dutch courts. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, or your right to bring a claim before the courts of that country.
The European Commission runs an online dispute resolution platform for consumers at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force.
